* 2023 KOREAN LANGUAGE CLASS FUND APPLICATION GUIDELINES*
The Korean Education Centre is a government organization representing the Korean Ministry of Education in New Zealand promoting and supporting the Korean language and culture to schools in New Zealand.
KEC has collaborated with the CAPE (an MOU partner of KEC) since 2019, which the NZ government has funded, to support the Korean language classes in NZ schools.
1) KEC supports NZ schools running the Korean classes as below:
a. KEC provides funds for NZ schools to run Korean classes. If necessary, KEC supports dispatching Korean teachers.
b. KEC holds Korean Festivals at schools. Experiencing Korean Culture is such as traditional Korean games, Taekwondo, and K-pop dance.
c. KEC supports Korean resources. For instance, we donate some selected Korean books to NZ schools to boost students' academic and cultural interests.
d. KEC presents the Korean Language Award. The best learners of the year at each school will get the Award.

a. FUND INFORMATION
The Korean Education Centre is a government organization representing the Korean Ministry of Education.
Since KEC was established in 2012, we have been promoting and supporting the Korean language and culture in schools in New Zealand.
Since 2019, schools may apply for additional funding through the CAPE programme* (Centre of Asia-Pacific Excellence) if they wish to teach more hours for the Korean language class.
The NZ government funds the CAPE to foster knowledge between New Zealand and the Asia-Pacific.
b. KOREAN LANGUAGE TEACHER FUND
(The objective of the fund)
- To support NZ schools in establishing and running sustainable Korean language classes.
(About the 2023 fund)
- KEC and CAPE fund a school of up to 240 hours per year for the Korean language programme.
- KEC supports the salary of the Korean language teacher for the first 120hrs Max./per year.
- CAPE* supports the salary of the Korean language teacher for an extra 120hrs Max./per year.
- The annual minimum working hours should reach 40 hours (1 hour per week * 4 terms).

- Submit required documents to nzkoreanedu@gmail.com. by Friday, 9 December 2022.
