Proposal for International Joint Class by Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education

1. Project overview:
Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education holds Proposal for International Joint Class to promoting students’ understanding of multiple languages and cultural diversity and expanding students’ opportunities to use foreign languages and improving their communication skills through the International Joint Class.

Developed by SMOE, this program provides real-time translation and subtitles of the conversation on the screen within the virtual conference platform.

2. Introduction of International Joint Class
1) Real-time class exchanges
o (Class period) April - December 2023
o (Class types)
- International Joint Class where students speak in their respective native Languages
- International Joint Class where students speak in the language of the counterpart country
- International Joint Class in English
 2)  Non-real-time class exchanges
o (Class period) April - December 2023
o (Class contents)
 - The two countries’ teachers consult with each other to select common class topics and contents.
 - Diverse topics including cultural exchanges, foreign language learning, and global citizenship education are possible.

3. Application Submission
o (Application method) Select between the real-time International Joint Class and
non-real-time International Joint Class (possible to choose both types of classes)
and submit the corresponding application form(s) in the Appendix to the email
of the person in charge.
o (Submission) To the person in charge of the International Joint Class at Seoul
Metropolitan Office of Education (intaffairs@sen.go.kr)
